Airtel and Jio are India’s top 2 broadband service providers. A few years back, Airtel broadband plans were costlier compared to broadband plans offered by local firms. Also, unlike local companies that offered unlimited data, Airtel bundled 40 to 100GB of data with its plans. When JIO 4G service was introduced, Airtel reduced the tariff substantially. It also removed the FUP limit on its plans. When Jio Fiber was introduced in 2019, Airtel introduced a new FTTH broadband service called XStream. Is JioFiber better than XStream or vice versa? Airtel XStream Fiber plans
Airtel has introduced the following five broadband plans. The XStream device or set-top box is optional. While purchasing the broadband plan on the Airtel website, you can select the “Xstream” check box.
Unlimited: Users of this Airtel broadband plan enjoy download speeds of up to 40 Mbps. Users can opt for an Airtel XStream set-top box to watch OTT content, channels, etc. This plan is priced at Rs 499/month.
Premium: This plan offers 2.5 times faster download speeds than the Unlimited plan i.e. 100 Mbps for additional Rs 300 (799/month).
Entertainment: The Entertainment plan costs 999 Rs per month and it offers download speeds of up to 200 Mbps. Users will get free access to the Disney Hotstar VIP plan which is priced at Rs 399/year. If you choose the XStream DTH box while ordering this broadband plan, you will get free access to Amazon Prime Video and ZEE5 paid plan.
Ultra: Priced at Rs 1499, the Ultra Airtel broadband plan offers download speeds of 300 Mbps and access to Disney Hotstar VIP, Amazon Prime, Zee5 OTT applications.
VIP: Airtel XStream fiber VIP plan offers download speeds of 1 Gbps and it is priced at 3999 Rs.

Availability: The Airtel XStream internet service is available in almost all metro or major cities of India. Before applying for the connection, you can check if the service is available in your city & locality or not.
In 2019, Jio installed JioFiber at user’s apartments or houses and allowed users to use the JioFiber service free of cost for a limited time. This offer was known as the “Jio Fiber Preview Offer”. Reliance Group has scrapped the preview offer but it allows users to try the JioFiber service for a month.
As of now, Jio is the only company that is selling its high-speed broadband plans on an EMI. The company also bundles free subscriptions to Netflix, Amazon Prime, ZEE5, ALT Balaji, etc with its plans. Airtel has partnered with Amazon and ZEE media only.
Here are the plans Jio Fiber offer to the users:
Rs 399 plan: This plan allows users to download files at a speed of up to 30 Mbps. OTT apps subscription is not included with this plan.
Rs 699 plan: The 699 Rupees JioFiber plan offers 100 Mbps download speeds. Like the 399 Rs plan, you won’t get access to OTT applications.
The remaining plans i.e. 999, 1499, 2499, 3999, and 8499 Rs plans include free OTT app access and offer download speeds within 150 Mbps to 1 Gbps. The 999 Rupees plan provides 14 OTT subscriptions worth 1000 Rs. The remaining plans offer a free subscription to 15 OTT applications paid plans. The value of the OTT subscription is 1650/1850 Rs/month.
JioFiber vs Airtel XStream speed
According to Netflix, JioFiber is the fastest ISP/broadband service provider in India. Airtel is at the 3rd position on the list of Netflix’s fastest ISPs.
Reliance Group asks users to pay Rs 1000 as installation charge and an extra 1500 Rs as a security fee. The money you pay for installing JioFiber at your place is non-refundable. The security fee is refundable. According to Airtel’s website, the cost of installation, dish, and wire is included with the price of the set-top box. As the set-top box is given to the broadband users for free (on request), they won’t have to pay installation charges.
