Laptop exchange offers in India and tips

Laptops can be costly. One of the best ways to reduce its cost is to exchange the old laptop for a new one. What is an exchange offer? The company that has introduced the offer will provide a discount of up to 20000 Rs on any new laptop of your choice when you hand over your old laptop to them. How does the exchange offer work? Once you choose a device, you’ll find an option to buy the product with or without exchange. If you choose the “buy with exchange” option, you’ll be prompted to select the model, processor, RAM size, storage memory, etc of your old laptop. You’ll also be asked to enter the serial number of your device.

Here are the various exchange offers you can go for in India:

Amazon exchange offer

Amazon’s laptop exchange offer looks enticing. According to Amazon, you can get up to 18250 Rs discount if you exchange your old laptop with them. The device you exchange on Amazon should be in a good condition i.e the laptop’s display should work fine, its body shouldn’t be cracked, it should boot, etc. The exchange price might change if the executive finds your laptop defective or finds some issues while checking it.

Flipkart exchange offer

Flipkart is another top online shopping site. Like Amazon, Flipkart has launched an exchange offer for people who want to exchange their old laptop and get some discount on a new laptop. The discount you’ll get after exchanging the old device depends on its condition. If the device is in good condition, you can get a 3000+ Rs discount. If the condition of the device is bad, you’ll get a discount of up to 1000 Rs.

Flipkart lets users exchange laptops that have some issues. Amazon expects your old product to be in a good condition.

HP Upgrade offer

HP has launched a special program called “HP Upgrade Offer” for new customers. To join this program, you’ll have to pay Rs 2999. What is the HP buyback program? HP offers a buyback guarantee wherein it will buy your old HP laptop after 1 or 2 years at a 60% or 40% reduced price. It also lets you buy laptops on no-cost EMI for 12 months or on 24 months EMI at a 7.5% interest rate.

You have chosen an exchange offer. Now what? Here are a few things you should do if you go for the exchange offer:

Backup your data: Copy all important files to a pen drive, external HDD, or cloud storage service such as DropBox, Google Drive, etc.

Keep the device ready: Keep the laptop & its charger ready. Don’t pack them as the executive will check their condition.

What if you find the exchange offer worth it? In case you don’t like the exchange offer or the company is offering a small amount, you can try selling your old laptop on Facebook or a classified website such as Quikr, OLX, etc. Selling an old laptop on Facebook is easy. You must find and join a group named after your county or city. For example, if you are living in the city XYZ, you should join the group named “XYZ”. The more groups you join, the better are your chances of selling the old laptop at a satisfactory price.

Once you join the group, create a new post. The post must have the full details of the laptop and its price. You can ask the people to message you their offers. To be honest, you can get a better price for an old laptop on social media sites than on an eCommerce portal.

Classified sites are visited and used by hundreds and thousands of people. If you create an ad on Olx, Quikr, etc, you will get private offers that you can either accept or ignore. When a person is ready to buy the laptop, ask him/her to meet you in a public place.
