Tata Sky Broadband vs Jio Fiber

Tata Sky BroadBand is Tata Sky’s 6 year old subsidiary that has a decent customer base. It was incorporated in 2015. Jio Fiber service was launched in 2018/2017 but it went commercial in 2019.

Both operators have launched a bunch of broadband subscription plans that may or may not be bundled with free add-on service. Are Tata Sky Broadband plans better than the Jio Fiber plans? Which service is more affordable? Let’s find it out!

Tata Sky broadband

Tata Sky has launched truly unlimited broadband plans. The plans were costly from 2015 to 2018. In 2020/2021, the company made the plans cheaper.

Right now, the broadband plans of Tata Sky are divided into 6 to 7 categories based on the internet speed. The 50 Mbps plans of the company are the cheapest and are available for purchase in one of these three subscription options – 3 months, 6 months, and 12 months. The 3-month plan is available for Rs 2097. The 6 and 12 months plan are priced at 3300 and 6000 Rs only.

The price of the Tata Sky Broadband 100 Mbps subscription plan starts at 950 Rs. The company has introduced 4 plans in this category – 1, 3, 6, and 12 months. The plans cost Rs 950, 2700, 4500, and 8400. The 150 Mbps subscription plans are 100 Rs costlier than the 100 Mbps plans. Likewise, the 200, 300, 500 Mbps, and 1 Gbps broadband subscription plans are costlier by 100 Rs than the plans with lower download/upload speeds.

According to Tata Sky Broadband, each plan they have launched offers uniform download and upload speed. The broadband plans don’t ship with any OTT or third-party service/application subscription. While buying the plan, you are allowed to opt for a phone connection. When the connection is set up, you will not only enjoy high-speed internet but you’ll also be able to make unlimited landline calls.

Unlike some companies that may charge extra bucks for installing the connection, TSBL will set up the connection at no extra cost but it will ask you to pay 1000 Rs as a security fee. Tata Sky also provides a router to the users who purchase a broadband connection from them. Once you consume 3300 GB of data, Tata Sky will drop the broadband connection speed to 3 Mbps instead of offering 50x Mbps speed.
